Chain link earrings are trending right now, which is a good thing. They go with everything in my wardrobe, especially minimalist button-down shirts. Since I like to wear the latest jewelry trends, I decided to make a pair of chain link earrings.
I used leftover long and short oval chain link. The links are fairly thick, so they make a bold, minimalist statement.
You only need to remove two 2.25″ pieces of chain link from the main chain, open a couple of jump rings, and connect the links and earring wires to the jump rings. The earrings were made in less than 20 minutes.
I used rhodium-plated chain link, but you can use other types of metals. Just make certain that the links are no more than 1mm thick. This will ensure that your earlobes can carry the weight of the chain link.
If you are looking for a quick and easy jewelry project, then make a pair of chain link earrings!
Here are the instructions:
Chain Link Earrings
rhodium-plated long and short oval chain link (about a foot)
2 7mm rhodium-plated jump rings
2 rhodium-plated fishhook earring wires
1 pair bent nose pliers
1 pair flat nose pliers
1 flush cutter (optional)
Dimensions (approximate): 2.25″ long
Cut the links
Measure a 2-2.25″ piece of chain link. Open the adjacent link to the piece measured.
Remove the piece of chain link, then close the opened link. Repeat with the other chain link.
Place the pieces aside.
Attach the ear wires
Open a jump ring. Attach a chain link to one end and the ear wire to the other end. Close the jump ring.
Repeat with the other chain link.
Tada! You’re done.
Your earrings should look like this:
Wasn’t that easy! Now show off your new earrings to your friends!
